The Freehand is a lovely hotel with a great vibe about it that was perfect for my first time in Chicago. Even though my room had an issue with the heat, the staff were quick to provide another solution that made my stay comfortable.

A very clean and comfortable environment. And the staff were extremely helpful and patient! Will definitely be staying here again if I have the opportunity!

Had an issue with the blow dryer not working and the light bulb in my pod not turning on but it was all fixed within 5 mins of reporting to front desk. Also, the shower curtain had some moldy spots. Other than that I had a wonderful 4 day stay! Second time staying there and will repeat in the future.

Absolutely disappointing experience — nothing like what I expected. I booked this stay through Expedia, and to be honest, I still don’t know if the issue was on Expedia’s side or the hotel’s side. But when I arrived, they told me it was a shared hotel room. I have traveled a lot and stayed in many hotels, and I have never in my life heard of a hotel where you share the room with strangers in different beds. It was extremely uncomfortable, especially because I was traveling with my kids. There was no way I could stay there with them. I had to immediately book another room on the spot and pay an extra $400 just to get a private room for myself and my children. And even then, the room they initially showed us was tiny, with four bunk beds — basically a small hostel-style room, not a real hotel room with a king bed or even two queens. Nothing matched the price I paid or what I expected. Overall, a terrible experience. Not at all what was advertised, and definitely not worth the money. I would never book here again.
