I recently stayed at ibis Styles Kyoto Shijo, and it turned out to be an excellent choice for exploring Kyoto. The hotel is located within walking distance of Karasuma Station (Hankyu Kyoto Line), making it very convenient for travelling around the city. There's also a bus stop right outside the hotel, which made it super easy to visit popular spots — Ninenzaka is just 10–15 minutes away by bus or taxi.
The famous Nishiki Market is also close by, perfect for food lovers and shopping. If you're looking for Indian food, there are a few Indian restaurants nearby, which was a great plus. Overall, the hotel is situated in a prime and very accessible area of Kyoto.
Room Experience:
The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, including the bathroom and bed. It had everything needed for a pleasant stay after a long day of exploring the city.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto who wants comfort, good connectivity, and a great location.

A Great choice of accomodation with quite a spacious room considering Japan standard, comfortably hosting 2 person. Room was clean with friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend.

The room was nice, just a bit small, and there wasn’t much space for our two luggages (one medium and one small). The beds were very comfortable and we slept really well.
We did have one unexpected incident: someone tried to open our door, and I’m glad I had double-locked it. We later found out that reception had accidentally assigned the same room number and keys to another guest. Thankfully, the staff and manager handled it quickly, apologized, gave us new keys, and even offered complimentary breakfast for the rest of our stay, which we really appreciated.
The hotel amenities were complete, though I did notice the shower curtain had a bit of an unpleasant smell. Not a huge issue, but worth mentioning.
The location is about an 8-minute walk from the subway station, which felt a bit far especially when our feet were tired, but it’s very close to bus stops and convenience stores, so that helped a lot.
Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable stay.
