The place is so comfortable & cozy. I love how the towels are ready available anytime I need. However, looking for the place was so confusing & out of the Google map points. (Walk further before the traffic lights & you can see it on your left. Please enter at the restaurant to check-in. ) There are also free drinks you can avail for free.

It was great, the staffs were very accommodating and pleasant. It was a very authentic rural Japanese experience and I hope to do it again during the winter.

This place is more like a residential home converted into guest accommodation. Overall, the facilities feel quite old and are not well maintained or properly cleaned. There were visible stains on the table, including marks from teapots and water rings that hadn’t been wiped. One positive point is that there is staff who can speak English. However, the room had several stink bugs, which caused a strong unpleasant odor. I personally caught three and disposed of them, but the smell still lingered. There are many cabinets in the room, but guests are not allowed to open them as they are used for storage, which makes the space feel dusty and cluttered. The bedding also seems not to be thoroughly cleaned—only the outer covers are changed, while the inner blankets have a noticeable musty smell. On the plus side, we stayed in a larger unit with two separate areas (a living room and a bedroom), which offered a good level of privacy.

We enjoyed our stay in Minsyuku Koshiyama more so with their friendly and accomodating staff. Traditional bedroom set up, with futon and conforters. Just make sure to close the window screen as the bugs can get inside. The room we stayed in was a bit dusty but we don't really mind as the view outside was awesome. The ground covered with sheets of snow and the tall trees as background. Added plus is the availability of the restaurant for guests where we hang around and enjoy our coffee and late night snacks. Do try their hotpot, oh so good for the very cold weather. Eventhough the restaurant is only until 6pm, there is a convenient store across the street where you can buy dinner if you get back a bit later from the village. Thanks for your great service!

Nice little hostel and sweet young staff. I had the 4-women room to myself even though it said I got the last one so don’t know what that is about. And I cant say anything about the noise, was fine because I was alone. I slept well but the heating was difficult and the kerosene heater went out in the middle of the night so I was quite cold. However i just borrowed a duvet from a different bunk. I would perhaps get guidance from the staff on this. I think the hostel was a manageable distance from the bus station and old town. It’s expensive for a hostel but for the area it makes sense and is a lot cheaper than the hotels. And since I had the whole room it was kind of like a hotel.
