Rooms well clean and well maintained. Extremely spacious and had a great view of the mountains. Staff was attentive and responsive. Location of hotel is great, convenient to reach to food options. The public onsens were fantastic and the rooftop one provided an unbelievable view of the mountains.

My initial plan was to go to Kurokawa Onsen but the ryokans I was looking for was too expensive and I heard the Kurokawa area are always crowded. Then, I found Aso Plaza Hotel with fair price and breakfast included. Breakfast is buffet, Japanese style, very healthy and tastes pretty good, decent. Facilities are old but pretty good. Onsen was not crowded so we loved that part. If you need extra towel you pay an extra fee in the front for very little amount. Many options of restaurants in the area and they’re not crowded. We are sushi in the area and a lady from another country was very friendly and e gave us a lot of tips about tour in the area, in English. For family time, I definitely recommend this place. Japanese customers were less than half during our stay there.

Of the 4 hotels on our trip, this was the most expensive but the worst. Room was in need of an update and the shower curtain - something that is so cheap - had mold on it!
Breakfast was ok but the kaiseki was disappointing.
From the Booking pictures, the onsen has nice views but we did not check it out.
Room size was good though and the staff nice but I would not go back again
