Very comfortable room and quiet considering it was a public house. Slight noise from being on a main road but I live in a very rural area so any noise will be noticeable for me! Very friendly and helpful staff.

We just stayed for one night as we were passing the area. Everything was spotlessly clean and the bed was super comfortable with high quality bedding. Our choice of breakfast was a full cooked English which was cooked to order with everything hot and tasty. The owners were friendly and pointed us in the right direction for a walk nearby. The only downside is the noise of the main road which is close by. If you don’t mind that then this is a really good place to stay.

Food is very nice. Booked and paid in advance for 10 nights. Stayed for one. There are bright lights in the rooms that cannot be switched off. We were told these are part of the new fire protection system and that all hotels have to have them. We stayed in three other hotels on our trip. All had similar systems yet none had a bright light on all the time. When we say bright, nothing that is too noticeable during the day but something you definitely don't want to be is sleep-deprived at night. Management had a solution for us after we complained at breakfast on the only morning we were there. They failed to implement it. Complained on the second night and were told to leave at just before 10pm, leaving us to find somewhere else to stay that night - which was fraught, to say the least. We have not received a refund for the nine unused nights B&B as of this review and Hotels.com customer service says the hotel has a no refund policy and will not help, despite repeated contacts. Will update if this changes. In summary, if you are there for one night, you can probably manage on a little sleep deprivation. For 10 nights, no way, especially when driving a car is something you'll be doing every day. The attached photo is best viewed on a large screen for full effect. The only light source was from the fire system light above. You can also clearly see the penguin motif at bottom right.
