I Booked standard cottage because the picture looks nice and new, also for the price. During check in we were given a different cottage ( medium cottage a located in the lowest level under the reception area) which was older but bigger . I told receptionist that it wasn't what I booked and requested the ' standard cottage ' as per the picture. After 10 mins waiting the female receptionist (the workers are not japanese) took me to the top of the hill , and inform me that this one was also similar with medium cottage, which is not. When I enter the standard cottage, it felt new and nice. You can see the kitchen appliances are new, it also felt brighter. So make sure you check the room picture and get what you book. I just felt ripped off given the first cottage. We can see mt fuji view from the top floor. There are no coffee tea amenities inside cottage, they do sell these in their shop , so bring small groceries before checking in. Also since no house keeping service , if they could provide small broom or vacuum it would be better. Location wise its a bit far and up the hill so i would probably recommend for those who is driving (they provide shuttle bus in morning but not in arvo). Overall our family enjoy the cottage experience

We stayed for 2 nights. Cozy cottage/ huge space! Great location. Cosy Downside: Staff did not inform guests there is a sauna hidden at the back and we found it by chance on day 2. No room clean up on the first day. Their very good breakfast was a bland soup with under cooked potatoes and cabbage

One of the most beautiful cottages I’ve stayed at! Nice furnishings, big rooms, modern. Perfect getaway from city. It could be 5 stars if such things as outdoor onsen was functional but it wasn’t at the time. The breakfast mediocre and not enough.. plus without a car is difficult to navigate around the area. You have to pay extra for everything, sauna, onsen, food, bbq set etc.. every facility had a price tag, even the bikes which were manual and one gear, old and broke down half way back up the hill… although they refunded, what would it take to get better bikes? So some improvements could make this hotel/cottage what it aims to be. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay overall.
