A truly wonderful family-run hotel with heart and soul. Hotel Alpina is run by a hardworking father who is nearing retirement, yet still personally involved in everything — from maintenance and kitchen work to check-in, check-out, and daily operations. You can see him constantly moving around, ensuring every detail is taken care of. What makes this place special is the genuine engagement with guests. From day one until check-out, the family is attentive, welcoming, and sincerely cares about your stay. It feels personal, not transactional. The restaurant is another highlight. The 5-course dinner is very decent, authentic, and surprisingly affordable for Switzerland. It is excellent value for money and a great way to experience local Swiss cuisine without overpaying. If you are looking for a warm, honest, family-run hotel with good food and true hospitality in Grindelwald, Hotel Alpina is highly recommended.

I stayed here for 2 nights this Summer. Excellent location <5mins from Grindelwald station, albeit uphill (no steps, just uphill road; it's a light workout which I enjoyed; the fresh air more than compensated for it!) Had an attached balcony and I absolutely loved waking up to views of nature and fresh air! Excellent service from the very friendly and helpful staff at the hotel; spacious & very relaxing room. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!! I look forward to staying here again should I ever find myself in this beautiful part of the world!
