We stayed at this hotel soon after the opening of the Snow Wall. It was difficult securing reserved tickets for the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route but staying at Hotel Tateyama provided added flexibility. It is unfortunate that the hotel services will be discontinued after August 31, 2026. The staff are very helpful and even provide medication for attitude sickness. They had activities for their guests like touring the snow wall after hours and star gazing. Their meals were outstanding and featured local specialties. This hotel will be missed.

Good location, the dinner and breakfast are great with many choices.

Booked this hotel to break my kurobe alpine route journey into 2 days. The hotel is linked to the Tateyama trolley bus exit so we were not exposed to the weather when we arrived at Murodo. Although the hotel was old, the room was clean & warm and the necessary amenities were provided. We were upgraded to a triple room. We can borrow from the hotel boots, hiking poles and shoe spikes for walking on snow outside the hotel. Dinner included in the half board package was good.

While the hotel and rooms are dated, the service is excellent and the food fantastic. Add to that the unique location and it makes it a great overnight stay.
