The initial room that we received was too hot to comfortably sleep and the AC was turned off for winter and the tiny window didn't provide enough cooling although we were able to upgrade for extra money. Overall the staff was nice and helpful although we were dissatisfied with the response that we'd have to pay more for a room with a larger window when the hotel was mostly empty anyway.

We really enjoyed our stay at Golden Royal. Very friendly and caring staff. Eager to please. Minutes to Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque and Sophia Basilica. Great location. Very easy to catch the tram down to the Bosphorus. Good breakfast provided.

a few highlight during our stay: 1. We arrived at the hotel in the morning and they allowed us to checkin early which was great after traveling the whole evening. 2. The hotel is centrally located and you can walk to all major sites in old town. Also, when we were tired from all the walking, we would come back to the room to rest a bit before heading out again for another adventure. 2. We ordered round trip airport transfer through the hotel before we arrived. Given the all time heavy traffic in the city, this saves us a lot of time and avoided all the hassles along the way. In the old town, it is a bit hilly and you probably can walk faster than a car can drive. I would not recommend those services that you will have to wait for other peoples from other hotels to get off. 3. All the staff members that we encountered are very helpful and professional with good english. we booked a night cruise with them and we enjoyed it very much. 4. Breakfast is not fancy, but very good with one of the best scrambled egg i ever had. 5. Very quiet room. I brought ear buds worrying about night noise. But no need to use it. the room is very quiet. overall, highly recommended and would come back again next time.

It was a long journey from the US. I was a first time traveler to Istanbul and my stay at the Golden Royal Hotel was the best. I highly recommend it. Wonderful location. Nice clean rooms. Great breakfast every morning. And best of all was the friendly helpful staff. A must stay for your next trip to Istanbul!
