Great location clean rooms pleasant staff

Nice hotel, not plush but clean, warm, great shower and very convenient location, straight opposite train station and only a short walk to the centre of Halifax.

I've given 4 stars overall because the hotel was as we expected. The interior was very old and dated and is in much need of an upgrade but we booked the hotel knowing this, and did so for its location (perfect for an event at The Piece Hall), knowing it would be dated. The room was functional but could have been cleaner with dust and a bit of dirt in the less commonly used places. The bedding and bathroom were clean. Again, the bathroom is dated but functional with hot water and clean towels but don't expect a rainfall shower. There's a kettle for tea and coffee making, which was a nicer touch. There was no lift, which was fine by us but may not suit everyone. Parking wasn't the easiest to find as the post code on the website took us to a different car park but we called reception and the staff gave directions to the right one, which was free. All staff I encountered were helpful. They did ask for the £100 deposit at reception, although I was only aware they might ask because of reviews I had read. The staff on reception seemed to expect people to turn up unaware of the deposit. Overall, we booked this place for its location and expected a basic room, which is what we got. If you turn up expecting luxury, you will be disappointed but if you need a basic room for a night or two then this could be the right place.

The hotel is fine. It’s what you’d expect for the price. Dated and in need of some love but the staff were fab and it was two mins from the venue- all in all great stay.
