The area around the hotel was third world. Felt unsafe every time we walked out the front door, got followed by a creepy man who was definitely trying to snatch my wife's purse. Breakfast was very poor and the room was below standard for a city hotel. Would not recommend this hotel for females & westerners.
DO NOT TRUST LASTMINUTE.COM - Misleading Listings, No Accountability
We booked Grand 5 Hotel & Plaza Sukhumvit via Lastminute.com on June 3, 2025. The listing promised a clean, 4-star hotel, ideal for our urgent medical trip.
What we arrived just after midnight it was shocking:
The “family connecting rooms” were filthy, damaged, and stank of cigarette smoke - despite being listed as non-smoking. The damp, musty air from poorly maintained A/C was hazardous for my wife, who has respiratory issues.
We were shown another room, but it was just as bad. The receptionist said these were the “best rooms” available - and the rest were smoking floors.
My unwell wife left by tuk-tuk to search Bangkok for a clean hotel and finally found one at 3am. She paid out of pocket while my two sons and I sat stranded in the dirty lobby for hours.
We contacted Lastminute.com the next day. They said they’d reach out to the hotel. Days later, they told us the manager had refused a refund. Their final message? “We tried, the manager said no.”
Lastminute misrepresented this property, failed to vet its quality, and ignored all follow-up complaints. Their handling of this serious matter - involving health risks - was evasive, dismissive, and disgraceful. We are now proceeding with formal complaints through Consumer Protection WA, the OAIC, and a chargeback with our bank.
I stay there every time I go to Bangkok awesome hotel very centralized to everything that I needed… great staff… excellent housekeeping staff rooms are super clean. Showers are the best in Bangkok… very happy overall and they also have a grocery store on the first floor… 5 stars for me for the money…

The hotel itself was okay for location . The manager was a complete DH All he wanted to do was scamming money off all customers. I paid for a grand deluxe and got a room with no view . I was also on my way to the airport and 5 mins into my taxi ride and realised that i left 1000 Aussie in my room safe . Within 5 minutes of returning to hotel they had the safe open and $150 Aussie had been taken . Im reporting to police. Never again worst service experienced in 30 years of travel .
