Uncomfortable beds, mystery stains on floor and sheets, no heat, elevator down
Grant Plaza is a gem for a night or more offering the upmost simple comfort and entryway to SF. Local merchants are personal and the locals are friendly. Catholic Cathedrals are so very central and if not for the Faith, do so visit for the history and architecture and the culture that built such a beautiful history of CA. It's all still alive!
The hotel operates on centralized heat. And they don't turn on the heat until 5pm in the evenings. I was so cold, and upon request, they offered me a portable radiator which practically doesn't do anything! The coil simply heats up, thats all. So I ended up keeping the radiator close to the bed. While I was working on my lapbut, the heat from the radiator damaged my laptop and my lapstop stopped working!
So, just a heads up to people who are sensitive to cold like me.
Very clean room and helpful staff. Location is awesome in right next to China Town walking street, very convenient with restaurants all around and walkable to many things (cable car view point, cable car museum, ferry building, pier 39, pier 33, etc). The only down side is the blasting car noise from the street at night problematic for people with sleep issue.
Nice central location in Chinatown! However, the walls were so thin that I could hear my neighbor snoring all throughout the nights I was there. The room itself is small and basic, but it’s expected for the price. All in all a good budget option, but don’t expect too much
